It's all change at Nissan as the Japanese manufacturer goes all-in for Season 9 with a completely new lineup as Norman Nato returns to the grid and is joined by rookie Sacha Fenestraz.

Nissan became the first Japanese manufacturer to enter the series when it partnered with the championship-winning e.dams outfit in 2018/19. It is a world leader in the design and manufacture of all-electric cars, with over 365,000 Nissan LEAF vehicles sold since the model debuted in 2010. For its entry in Formula E, Nissan has made use of its existing EV experience to develop the all-new powertrain for its Formula E race car. In turn, the learnings from the track will shape the next generation of EVs from the Japanese car maker.

In its first season, the team managed a second place finish in the Teams' championship after six podium finishes, six pole positions and 16 Super Pole appearances combined by Buemi and Rowland, making Nissan e.dams the best qualifying team in the championship. The team ended the season with its first ever victory during the final race weekend in New York City.

For their first two campaigns in Formula E, Nissan employed the services of Formula E veteran and former champion Sebastien Buemi alongside British driver Oliver Rowland. Building on their performance last season the pair piloted the team's new 'kimono-inspired' car for 2019/20, after getting off to a slow start, Buemi earned Nissan their first podium at Round 4 in Mexico City with a third-place finish.

The Nissan duo got into their strides in the six-race season-finale in Berlin, Buemi claiming three podiums to his name and Rowland added to this with his debut victory in Formula E. An impressive run of results to allow Nissan e.dams to fire into second in the teams' standings.

Nissan e.dams headed into the 2020/21 campaign looking like one of the form prospects. The Japanese marque made up for lost time last season after its twin-motor solution was outlawed, and ended on a high with Rowland's maiden win in Berlin. Season 7 was a slow burn, with bad luck curtailing front-running pace - certainly for the Brit.

Rowland rounded off with another podium at Tempelhof, adding to silverware in Puebla. Converting a London DNF after a tangle with Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ) could well have seen Rowland trouble the standings' top three. A best of fifth in Rome was all Buemi had to show for his lowest points-score in Formula E to-date.

With Maximillian Guenther drafted into the team for Gen 2's swansong, the struggles for Nissan continued with their lowest scoring season to date, ending 2022 down in ninth place with Buemi's best finish of fifth in Marrakesh their highest score.

For Season 9 and the beginning of the Gen3 era, Nissan have taken complete control of the squad bringing an all-new line-up for their factory entry, putting their faith in the hands of race-winner Norman Nato who returns after a one-season sabbatical and highly-rated rookie Sacha Fenestraz making his full-time start.

Making his debut with Nissan in Season 5, Oliver Rowland is back with the Japanese marque for the 2023/24 season looking to add to his victory and podium tally.

Starting his career in karting at the age of seven, Rowland spent a decade racing in various series around the United Kingdom before progressing to Formula Renault, taking a place on the grid of the 2010 Formula Renault UK Winter Series with CRS Racing. At the same time, the British driver received funding from the Racing Steps Foundation, which helped him graduate into single-seater racing.

Moving to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2013, Rowland finished his campaign in fourth with seven podium finishes, before taking the championship title in 2015 with Fortec Motorsports. That same year, he made his debut in Formula E with Mahindra Racing, filling in for driver Nick Heidfield in the Punta del Este E-Prix where he finished 13th.

After making his debut in GP2 in Silverstone the same year, Rowland competed in the series for two seasons, finishing third overall in 2017. Entering into Formula One in 2017, Rowland was signed to the role of development driver to the Renault F1 team.
In 2018 the Sheffield-born driver was confirmed as Williams Martini Racing's official Junior Driver ahead of securing a full-time seat with Nissan e.dams.

Joining Formula E full-time after one outing for Mahindra in the 2015/16 season, Rowland partnered with Sebastien Buemi for the team's debut season. Finishing second in the teams' championship after six podium finishes, six pole positions and 16 Super Pole qualifying appearances, the team ended the season with its first ever victory during the final race weekend in New York, which went to Rowland's teammate Buemi.

In his second season with Nissan e.dams, Rowland put in a consistent run of point-scoring finishes across 2019/20 that culminated in a debut victory at the penultimate round of the season in the final Berlin double-header.

Heading into his third season in all-electric street racing, Rowland continues his strong partnership with Nissan e.dams alongside Sebastien Buemi.

Season 7 was a slow burn, with bad luck curtailing front-running pace - certainly for the Brit. Rowland rounded off with another podium at Tempelhof, adding to silverware in Puebla. Converting his London DNF after that tangle with Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ) could well have seen Rowland trouble the standings' top three.

Rowland moved to pastures new to complete another all-British driver line-up alongside Alexander Sims at Indian outfit Mahindra Racing for Season 8, following three seasons with Nissan e.dams. It was 14th again in the running, with a podium in Seoul the highlight.

Returning to Formula E with a full-time drive last season, Norman Nato shifts across to Andretti Formula E for Season 10. There will be high hopes for the Frenchman, as he looks to add to his win and podium tally by taking a seat in a championship-winning car.

Since entering professional motorsport in 2006, Nato has worked his way up the ladder, finishing runner-up in F4 Eurocup 1.6 back in 2010 and in Formula Renault 2.0 Alps in 2012.

From there, Nato stepped into Formula Renault 3.5 and took a dominant victory around the streets of Monte Carlo. His performances opened the door to GP2 Series - now Formula 2 - where he took three wins and eight podiums in three seasons and finished fifth overall in 2016.

Most recently, Nato came third in both the 2018 European Le Mans Series and the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship, including a second-placed finish in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Nato has already dipped into the world of all-electric street racing, having taken part in the annual Marrakesh Rookie Test and he has spent hours carrying out developmental work for the team in its simulator over the last two years.

The Frenchman made his debut in Formula E alongside Edoardo Mortara at ROKiT Venturi Racing. It was a season of ups and downs with penalties denying Nato podiums in Rome and Valencia, but he ended his campaign on a high with win in the Berlin season finale - becoming only the third driver to visit the top step in their rookie season.

Without a drive in Formula E for Season 8, Nato combined his efforts in the LMP2 category of the World Endurance Championship with a reserve driver role at Jaguar TCS Racing - where he stepped up to the plate to replace the injured Sam Bird in the season finale double-header in Seoul.

Nato is back in behind the wheel full-time for Season 9, partnering rookie compatriot Sacha Fenestraz at the works Nissan outfit.
