After years of winning countless off-road titles across the World Rally Championship and in the Dakar Rally, and success in the World Touring Car Championship, Citroën Racing embark on a new chapter with a shift to electric racing.

Citroën joins the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship from Season 12 with the GEN3 Evo and sets a path to the GEN4 era, bringing a new Stellantis brand to the paddock alongside DS

Taking over from the Maserati partnership at the Monaco-based MSG Racing, Citroën enters the all-electric racing paddock with race-winning credentials from decades in the World Rally Championship. You only have to mention the name Sebastien Loeb to recall his legendary rally performances, taking the French manufacturer to an incredible 80 wins and nine world titles alongside co-driver Daniel Elena.

The Citroën name also found championship-winning success in the World Touring Car Championship, with a name familiar to the Formula E paddock, as Jose Maria Lopez took the French outfit to a hat-trick of titles. With Lopez, alongside Loeb and touring car legend Yvan Muller, Citroën dominated the WTCC for three seasons, taking the top spots in the championship.

Now they set their sights on the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, and have recruited a two-time champion and a race-winner to their line-up for their entry, as Jean-Eric Vergne and Nick Cassidy join Citroën Racing for their debut in the GEN3 Evo era.

Not only do the drivers carry race-winning potential, but they also take over the MSG Racing garage, which has a lot of legacy in Formula E, as one of the founding outfits in the series. With 11 wins, 29 podiums and five poles to their name, and a host of successful drivers all passing through their doorway, including former champion Stoffel Vandoorne, Maximilian Günther, Edoardo Mortara, Felipe Massa, and Jérôme d'Ambrosio.

Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne made history after becoming the first back-to-back champion in Formula E following his title-winning campaigns in 2017/18 and 2018/19. He's still looking for title number three, returning with DS as the marque joins forces with PENSKE AUTOSPORT for the Gen3 era, and partnering reigning champion Stoffel Vandoorne.

With a long history in Formula E dating back to the inaugural 2014/15 season, Jean-Eric Vergne - more affectionately known as JEV - is the only driver in the series to have achieved more than a single title, and back-to-back championship titles, both of which he claimed with current team DS TECHEETAH.

JEV's motorsport career started earlier than most, as he entered his first karting race in 2000 aged just four years old. Progressing to single-seater racing with Formula Renault in 2007, it wasn't long until the Frenchman secured support from Red Bull and was admitted into its Junior Team.

With the outfit's backing, he won the 2010 British F3 championship before making his Formula 1 test debut for Toro Rosso that same year. He finished second in the Formula Renault 3.5 series in 2011, which earned him the opportunity to test with Red Bull Racing in Formula 1 as he earned promotion to its sister squad - Scuderia Toro Rosso. Over the next three seasons, Vergne took part in 58 grands prix, scoring 51 points and securing a best finish of sixth.

After a controversial exit in Formula 1 in 2014, JEV entered Formula E with Andretti for the series' debut season. Despite a stunning debut with the American squad, the Frenchman made a move to Virgin Racing for his second campaign. Although the switch allowed him to add to his pole tally, victory still proved elusive for Vergne.

Another change of scenary came for his third campaign as he linked up with TECHEETAH. It wasn't until the final round of the season that he finally made his breakthrough with an emotional maiden win in Montreal. Remaining with the team for the 2017/18 season, JEV continued to soar. With four wins and six podiums, he assembled a title tilt which he converted into his first Formula E Drivers' Championship at the New York City season finale.

Intent on retaining his crown, Vergne embarked on his fifth season in Formula E with his newly manufacturer-backed squad DS TECHEETAH, as the French automotive brand joined the fold. Despite a potent powertrain, JEV battled his way through a rollercoaster season which saw the title fight head right down to the wire in the New York City finale

With four title contenders in with a chance of scooping top honours, it was Vergne who held his nerve to emerge victorious from the battle in Brooklyn -  making history as the series' first double champion. The Frenchman aimed to make it a hat-trick in Season 6, but new teammate Antonio Felix da Costa quashed his dream to seal the title for himself.

Vergne's as fired up as any driver, and with title-winning machinery beneath him, he has fire in the belly and as good a chance as any of taking top honours come the final chequered flag of the campaign. With one of the most competitive line-ups in motorsport history standing in his way in Season 7, though, and the reigning champion in the garage next-door, it won't be easy.

Vergne wound up 10th, with a Rome victory his highlight of the season and a podium in New York City in the shadow of Manhattan another high point. Both DS drivers, with three titles between them, were a match all season.

JEV was in contention for the Drivers’ title throughout Gen2’s final campaign. Podiums in Mexico, Rome, Monaco, Berlin and Jakarta filled a heady mid-season for the Frenchman, but retirements in New York and London hamstrung the double title-winner before he got to the Seoul finale.

Taking the championship fight to the final double-header of the season, Nick Cassidy charged to four victories in an impressive campaign in Season 9. Switching to Jaguar TCS Racing for his fourth campaign in Formula E, the New Zealander has the top prize in his sights for Season 10.

Duly, Cassidy did build on that promising first season with more silverware in London, and a maiden win in New York City, going one better than he’d managed a year prior. Cassidy stays put in Season 9 for the start of the Gen3 era and welcomes Formula E legend Sebastien Buemi alongside.

A true racing renaissance man, Nick Cassidy's racing career has seen him successfully jump from GT cars to single-seaters, and he has already demonstrated his speed for the Envision Virgin Racing in the annual Marrakesh Rookie Test.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Cassidy started racing at a young age, competing in karting at just six years old, kicking off a successful career in his home country and taking on the likes of future Formula E winner Mitch Evans.

Graduating to single-seaters, Cassidy set off with a winning debut in the Formula First New Zealand series in 2008, before eventually becoming one of the most successful drivers in the history of the Toyota Racing Series.

After back-to-back championship victories in the Toyota Racing Series, Cassidy travelled to Europe to take on the FIA Formula 3 European and Renault 2.0 championships. The New Zealander also got his first sampling of street racing with an impressive third-place finish in his first-ever appearance at the challenging Macau Grand Prix.

Cassidy then branched out into Japanese motorsport and dual driving duties in the Super Formula and Super GT championships. Driving for the legendary TOM'S racing outfit, the Kiwi continued his rise in Japan taking the Super GT title in 2017, following this with Drivers' Championship honours in the 2019 Super Formula season.

After a star appearance topping the timesheets at the 2020 Marrakesh Rookie Test, Cassidy jumps back into the seat with Envision Virgin Racing for his debut in the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Cassidy consistently impressed and a storming second half of his season yielded two trips to the rostrum of his own, in Puebla and New York City on his way to 15th in the Drivers’ standings. Season 8 yielded more progress as the Kiwi continued alongside Robin Frijns at the team. As the championship tightened, Cassidy fired to 11th overall – with a maiden victory in New York City and a further podium in London added to his tally.
